Founder’s Weekend 09’ Info Now Available!
2009 FOUNDER'S WEEKEND
The weekend of June 12-14, 2009 marks the 18th annual Founder's weekend to honor W. D. Boyce, one of the founders of scouting. Ottawa was the home of W. D. Boyce and is also his final resting place. Join us for a weekend of varied activities including camping, hiking, fun, games, crafts, etc.
HISTORY OF SCOUTING COLLECTORS PATCHES
The year 2009 also marks the 99th anniversary of W. D. Boyce’s incorporation of the Boy Scouts of America. The Ottawa Scouting Museum announces a "COUNTDOWN TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY" of the incorporation of BSA. Starting in 2002, we will issue a different, fully embroidered collectors patch each year until 2010. When fully assembled, this collection of patches will present a pictorial history of all scouting. This completed patch will be over 14" in diameter - and truly a collectors dream. Attention Scrapbookers - And Would Be Scrapbookers
Christmas/Winter Border Class at the Ottawa Scouting Museum
The Ottawa Scouting Museum, 1100 Canal Street, Ottawa, Illinois will be offering a Christmas/Winter Borders Make It and Take It class for Scrapbookers and Would-Be Scrapbookers on Sunday, February 22, 2009 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m.
If you are a veteran Scrapbooker, or someone who would like to begin scrapbooking, this program is designed to get you off to a running start with 20+ Christmas and winter themed scrapbooking borders. Pre-cut materials will be provided in a "kit" to complete these borders during the class. Borders are designed for 12" scrapbooks, are Christmas and/or winter themed - and each one is different! A great opportunity for scrappers to get those Christmas photos from last year - or from years ago - or for next year - into your own Christmas memory scrapbook!
Participants will need to bring their own adhesive, paper cutter and scissors. The fee, which includes all supplies (except adhesive) and refreshments, is $25 per person.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY & DUE SATURDAY APRIL 11, 2009
The Ottawa Scouting Museum is offering Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors the opportunity to complete the requirements for two badges.
Brownies will be able to earn: (1) Colors and Shapes badge and Listening to the Past badge by participating in the activities offered at the museum.
Junior Girl Scouts will be able to earn: Local Lore badge and Prints and Graphics badge. (The Local Lore badge meets a requirement for the sign of the Rainbow.)
In an effort to accommodate the maximum number of girls, we are offering two sign up times for this activity. In completing your registration, you will need to indicate which time slot you prefer. We will also limit each session to 25 participants. If we fill up both sessions being offered, we will offer a third option. You should be aware

Santa’s Surprise Workshop Date Moved-Now 12/14/08
If you were planning on attending the Santa’s Surprise Workshop event at the Museum originally scheduled for the weekend of December 6th, please note that the event date has changed. The new date will be Sunday, December 14, 2008. Registration will now be extended through the prior Saturday, December 6. Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to see you all on the 14th.
